Our back story

Established nearly two decades, and built on the dance and 30 plus years of academic teaching experience of our founder and director, Clare Michelsen   CM Dance is a dance school where kids of all ages, shapes, sizes, and ability learn to dance and perform.

Recognising the need for a Brisbane dance school with a holistic approach to teaching dance, Clare started CM Dance, offering Irish and [other] lessons. Since those first classes, CM dance has grown, both in size and in the range of dance styles  taught at its two studio locations in Coorparoo and Camp Hill.

Our philosophy

When asked about CM Dance, we provide reassurance that for us, teaching dance to our lovely students is about more than learning steps to music. It’s about nurturing and supporting your child as a whole, encouraging their creativity, individuality and self-expression.

 

At the heart of what we do is a conscious intention to nurture and develop talent, while also inspiring a love and appreciation of many dance styles. Recognising every child is different, we celebrate achievements at every level, from Little Dancers to our Irish dancers competing on the world stage. At CM Dance you will find a commitment to providing a safe and positive environment where all students can feel empowered, comfortable and free to express themselves.

CM Dance is a family friendly dance studio. We support our busy dance families by providing flexible class timetables and by keeping class costs manageable.

Communication is key - We communicate clearly and directly

Inside and outside the studio, we maintain open communication channels between teacher, parents/carers, and students. We demonstrate the respect and value we have for our community with clear, direct communication, and by responding to all queries, no matter how big or small.
