CLASSES FOR 3 & 4 YEARS
The Dance Club is an exclusive gathering for 3 & 4 year olds. Explore ballet, jazz, tap and Irish dancing! Classes operating every Saturday morning.
CLASSES FOR 5 & 6 YEARS
Ballet & Jazz is a class for our new schoolers who are ready to work with instruction and be part of a team. The music for this class is fun and familiar to them and expands on the techniques learned by our younger classes. We do some warming up, stretching, progressions across the room (including skips, kicks and basic turning skills) as well as learning expression and character. Preliminary and Grade 1 RAD classes being offered. Classes offered Saturday mornings.
Yep, we’ve got Hip Hop classes for Juniors up to 10 years of age. It’s a fun way to learn an art form which has evolved over the years into a stimulating improvisational dance style. Classes offered Tuesday afternoon.
In this class your child will be learning super fun basic tap skills in an imaginative way (maybe even playing with instruments) to help promote rhythm. They will learn steps including toe-heel, heel-toe, stamps and shuffles as well as making as much noise as they can in our fun, safe and educational environment. Classes offered Saturday afternoon.
Beginner Irish is 45 minutes of full-on fun! Your child will learn the basic over 2,3 Irish movement and then learn four other light shoe dances. You’ll be amazed how much their brains can soak up. Rhythm, foot technique as well as strengthening is all part of this class too! Be prepared to have your Irish dancer over 2,3ing down the supermarket aisles on your next shopping trip. Classes offered Tuesday and Saturdays.
CLASSES FOR 7 YEARS & OVER
Ballet & Contemporary
Our ballet classes range from Junior through to Senior levels, where our dancers build on their ballet technique using creative roleplay, props and a thriving positive environment. There are opportunities for students in these classes to perform in non-threatening performances. Grade 7 RAD Ballet syllabus currently being offered. Classes offered Monday evenings.
Our Jazz classes range from Junior through to Senior levels and build on the basics of jazz technique to popular and age appropriate music. The turns, kicks, leaps, body isolations, combination and style of moves increases in difficulty as the age and experience of the dancer increases. Classes being offered Monday evenings.
Irish Dancing – (Beginner – Open Championship)
We’ve known for a long time that kids love nothing more than dancing and once they get the Irish music in their heads, there is no stopping them. Once the students have grasped the basic light shoe dances, they will move into Riverdance style dancing with hard shoes. Once they’ve grasped both the light and heavy shoe dancing, they can start competing in Irish dancing competitions (but only if you want). We can boast the success of our dancers winning Queensland State Championships in both solo and team dances, as well as Top 5 in Australia and a multitude of World Qualifiers. We develop these champions in an environment that is non-threatening, positive and encouraging but also hard-working, dedicated, challenging and aimed at achieving individual dancer’s potential.
Yep, we’ve got Hip Hop classes for Juniors up to 10 years of age offered on Tuesday afternoons and Intermediate Hip Hop (11 – 14 years) offered on Thursday afternoons. It’s a fun way to learn an art form which has evolved over the years into a stimulating improvisational dance style.
We call it Street Tap because it will be fast, rhythmical and challenging with warm ups, canons, cross rhythms, freaky feet combos, and more … You will need some experience in Tap dancing to enter this class so that you can continue to learn and explore new levels of rhythms, precision and musicality. So if your Tuesday nights are free, come and give us a go!
Our Tap classes are graded from Beginner to Senior levels and students must have some previous experience of Tap in order to be in these classes. The rhythms and combos will continue to become more complicated … and challenging!!! Will encourage them to progress through the program/syllabus and work hard – great for fitness and having a good laugh! Beginner Tap is currently being offered every Saturday and Street Tap is offered for our seniors on Tuesday evenings.
